Evgeny Anisimov had one of the happiest moments of his life when his son Misha was born. To his surprise, the doctor then said, «I worry your baby has Down syndrome.» His exhilaration had given way to doubt and anxiety.
When he heard such statements, Evgeny was overcome with emotion. In an interview with Bored Panda, the 33-year-old father recalls leaving the hospital and sobbing after the doctors had informed them of the news. But the tears quickly stopped flowing. Actually, he was embarrassed by his original remark.
After all, nothing had really altered in my life. I still had two limbs and two legs, and my professional knowledge was ineffective, Evgeny remarked.
“Everything I had, including my tenacity, activity, curiosity, etc., was with me. My son was born as expected, everything went according to plan. But the infant is unique, and his present and future are already of great significance,” he continued.Evgeny understood he was being self-centered and that, despite how difficult it might be, he should be able to care for the child.
When he came home that evening, he turned on his computer and started looking up information about Down syndrome because he didn’t know what his son’s condition was.«I learned that Down syndrome individuals may live and work independently in Europe and are successfully assimilated into society. The decision I had already taken was unaffected by that, he said.
Leaving his son behind had never crossed his mind, but it seems that his wife had other plans: she intended to place their son in foster care.
With his wife, he has always had a «excellent and trusted» relationship. After learning about her strategy, Evgeny persuaded his wife that they would manage to get through it together. Sadly, she wasn’t convinced, and their argument led to their eventual breakup.
He stated that it was too late to get out of the situation because the rubicon had already been crossed. I can now understand that she was merely scared at the time; once she started acting in the wrong way, the rubicon had already been crossed.
Since then, Evgeny has raised Misha by himself. He bathes him, makes him dinner, and tucks him in every night.
Even though each chore is simple, the single father admits that it can be difficult to complete it every day. He is lucky that his mother assists him so he can spend some time by himself.Evgeny also prepares a variety of activities for Misha’s benefit in terms of both his physical and mental development. The young child has been swimming every week since he was five months old.
In addition, he has begun speech treatment. Evgeny is grateful that many people have been contributing to their ability to pay for these costly activities.
I know there might be more problems in the future, but I’m hoping we’ll be able to get through them all, he added.
Evgeny’s goal is to spread knowledge about Down syndrome and assist families that are dealing with the same difficulties as raising a child with special needs.Evgeny has this to stay because their tale is gradually attracting attention on a global scale.
“I want the public to learn and internalize that concept through all the pieces about Mishka and me that are currently being published. And I also want to encourage and support those who are or will be in similar situations to me by setting a good example, the devout father continued.
“I make an effort to correspond with people who are close by and those who are far away. I hope those who are struggling right now, just like it was for us, read about us. Don’t be afraid! Everything is going to be okay!
What a motivating tale! Evgeny is the epitome of what a terrific father should be.
